Classroom Tour 2015

It has been a busy week filled with professional development, meetings, and of course classroom setup! I have been dreaming about the day I would have my own classroom since I was about 3 years old and it finally happened! I went with an ocean/under the sea theme for my room and my color scheme was blue and green. It's almost completely done but there are some things missing from the walls since I'm waiting for my students to arrive. They come on Monday and I couldn't be more excited! Enjoy my mini tour :)

I can't wait for my students to come and add some more life into the classroom on Monday!

Monday Made It

I'm so excited to post my first Monday Made It! I always see the amazing ideas other teachers post on their blogs, Pinterests, and Instagrams so I'm excited to be a part of it!

My weekend revolved around my classroom even though my students don't arrive for another week. I shopped for my classroom, I planned for my classroom, I organized things for my classroom, and of course I made things for my classroom.

One of the more popular things I've seen all over the online teacher community is the Teacher Toolbox. If you know me at all you know I'm obsessed with organization and anything that helps me to do that always makes me ecstatic. So I had to go out to Lowe's and buy my Teacher Toolbox. It started off looking something like this:
Boring, plain and something that most people just store nails and washers in. But thanks to the world of Pinterest and my colored printer I ended up with this:
It's already sitting on my desk and I love it! Not only does it look beautiful (in my opinion) but it's so functional! You can take the little drawers out and move them with you. I loved being able to take the whole thumbtack drawer out and bring it to the other side of the room where I needed it. Then, I just slid it back in when I was done. Genius! I'm looking forward to filling it up and getting lots of use out of it this year.

New Year, New School, New Blog!

So I've clearly been slacking on this blog thing but I'm hoping to really stick to it this year! I just accepted a new job at a Catholic school teaching kindergarten and I'm so excited! I loved my class and co teacher last year but I'm so excited to have a classroom that's all my own. I was able to get in today for the first time to see what my room looks like and what I have to work with. Here are some of the before pictures of my classroom. This is what I saw as soon as I walked in before moving things around and taking things off the walls.
This is the back corner of my room. I love that I have a kidney table.

This is the other back corner where I hope to put a rug and maybe a classroom library.

Front of the room complete with a smartboard!

How amazing are these built ins?!

Coat room plus additional storage space

I'm in love with the hardwood floors and the space in general. I can't wait to start the actual set up and post some picture of the finished product!
